Gaga’s Card-making Tutorial ​

Hello everyone! It’s Gaëlle here again for the last of my card-making tutorials. This time we’re going to create a really cute birthday card for a small child. Let’s get started!

​Start by putting some pink watercolour paint onto your sheet of watercolour paper. Add water as you work on the page so that you create an irregular, randomly-shaped puddle of colour. As you add paint or water to the page you will get different shapes and differing concentrations of colour. During this stage water and paper towels are your friends! The changing intensity of the colour in the splashes across your page will create a beautiful effect.

Avec une aquarelle rose commencez à imbiber votre papier aquarelle, n’hésitez pas à ajouter de l’eau dans la continuité de la tâche pour l’orienter et l’imbiber différemment en couleur. L’eau et le papier absorbant sont vos deux alliés pour cette étape. Il vous faut créer des différences d’intensité de couleur pour obtenir une belle tâche.
Do the same thing with a light blue watercolour and let the two colours blend together in the places where they meet. It is important to let this work dry naturally in the air so that all of the subtleties and intensity of the colours produced by this technique are not lost.
​Faites de même avec une aquarelle bleue claire et joignez les deux couleurs à la jonction des deux tâches. Important : laissez sécher à l’air libre pour permettre au papier de garder toutes les intensités de couleurs créées grâce à l’apport d’eau.
When the splodges of colour that you have put onto your page and fully dry you can move on to the next step.
Une fois votre tâche sèche vous allez pouvoir passer à la suite !
Choose a small die-cut shape that you want to use on your card. I chose a cute little rabbit’s face. You may want to customise it a bit; I wanted to add some birthday flavour so I gave the rabbit a little party hat made out of golden glittered paper and a little resin bowtie.
Prenez un petit die-cut (ici une petite tête de lapin esprit enfantin) et customisez-le si vous le souhaitez ! Pour ma part comme il s’agissait d’une carte d’anniversaire je lui ai ajouté un chapeau de fête en papier glitter or et un petit nœud papillon en résine.
Use an ink stamp and some black ink to print your text on some white cardstock.
Sur un cardstock blanc, tamponnez votre texte en noir.
Attach your die-cut shape to the centre of your card using sticky foam pads and add two thin strips of stamped text beneath it.
Collez votre die-cut au centre de la carte avec de la mousse 3d et ajoutez deux bandes fines de texte tamponné.
Cut three thin strips of double-sided tape and stick them onto your card, positioning them so that one lies across the bottom left hand corner and the other two lie across the top right hand corner in parallel with each other. Once these are in place they are ready to be covered in gold foil. Heidi Swapp sells a good gold foil, but you could use any brand of gold foil or gold leaf. You can also find it in a nail bar or the nails section of a beauty shop, which is what I do.
Avec un double-face fin placez 3 fines bandes parallèles de part et d’autre des bords opposés de votre carte. Prenez ensuite votre papier foil (on en trouve notamment de la marque Heidi Swapp mais j’achète le mien en onglerie, appelé papier transfert dans ce domaine). Pour appliquer le papier foil, décollez la pellicule du double-face pour ne garder que le collant sur votre carte. Placez le papier foil côté brillant vers le haut, et côté mat sur le collant du double-face. La matière du papier foil va s’accrocher par adhérence et laisser un liseré doré en lieu et place de la bande de double-face.
Add some more decoration to the top right hand corner of the card; try a grouping of some small labels and a shiny gold paperclip.
Finish off your card by adding some final decorative elements in keeping with the overall scheme, such as small wooden stars and some enamel dots.
Congratulations, your card is finished!
Complétez le coin supérieur droit de la carte avec un petit ensemble d’étiquettes et un mini trombone or.
Terminez votre carte en ajoutant des petites étoiles bois et des enamel dots coordonnées.
